kabel eins is one of the three main TV channels owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media, a German commercial broadcaster, alongside both ProSieben and Sat.1. Launched on February 29, 1992 as Der Kabelkanal, it was rebranded to Kabel 1 in 1994 and then to kabel eins in 2005. It is mainly known for airing classic American films as well as TV series and documentaries.
kabel eins, ProSieben and Sat.1 largely compete for viewership with all three of RTL Deutschland’s three main channels, specifically RTL, VOX and RTL Zwei.

In October 1999, Federal Courts awarded Kabel 1 the use of the 1 symbol in their logo after a long legal battle with ARD. Kabel 1 was quick to take advantage of the decision, and, on December 24, 1999, a new set of graphics was introduced. The new identity was designed by Pittard Sullivan.

2005–2008[]
The channel got a new simplified logo on March 28, 2005 and renamed itself from Kabel 1 to kabel eins (in lowercase). The slogan was changed accordingly from Kabel 1: Alles Gute., to kabel eins. good times.

2008–2011[]
kabel eins launched a new logo and its identity on February 11, 2008. This included a new tagline, echt kabel eins (‘real kabel eins’). The new identity was designed by SevenSenses (now Seven. One Creation), ProSiebenSat.1’s in-house creative agency. The new on-screen font was Neo Sans. Starting with this logo, the 1 figure has always appeared within a rectangle.

2011–2015[]
On July 21, 2011, it was announced that a modified logo and a new set of graphics would be used just three days later, on the 23rd of that month. This logo and the accompanying set of idents and bumpers was designed once again by Seven. One Creation. The 1 in the logo now featured a drop shadow; the previous on-screen font, Neo Sans, was retained.

2015–present[]
Another redesign was introduced on August 31, 2015 that replaced the Neo Sans on-screen font, which had been in use since 2008, with Nexa and Nexa Slab. This font is also used in the new logo for ProSiebenSat.1 Welt, a channel for American and Canadian audiences, since 2016. This rebrand came six months after that of ProSieben in February 2015.
Like with the previous two identities, the redesign was done by Seven. One Creation. So sieht’s aus, the slogan from 2013, continues to be used.
