KiKA (formerly known as "Der Kinderkanal") is the German children's television network run by ARD and ZDF. It is focused on children's programming for children and young adults.

Der Kinderkanal was launched on 1 January 1997.

In an effort to be more appealing to older children, the Der Kinderkanal changed its name to KI.KA on May 1, 2000. The new look was created by the Dutch agency N+t vision on screen.[1]
