As Kinect still has a potential beyond video games, Microsoft decided to integrate Kinect with Microsoft Azure and relaunched it as Azure Kinect Developer Kit in 2019, and Azure Kinect's technology will be licensed to other companies such as Sky for Sky Glass televisions.
The Azure Kinect Developer Kit was discontinued in October 2023, with Microsoft started to refer to alternatives that it is also based on Azure Kinect technology such as the Orbbec Femto Bolt.
