1992-1996
In 1992, Kmart bought 13 state-owned department stores in Czechoslovakia and turned them into Kmart locations; however, in 1993, Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Three years later, all Kmart stores in both countries were sold to Tesco due to its parent company's financial issues despite the former's operations being profitable.
