Knockout City was announced at the Nintendo Direct on February 17, 2021 published by EA Originals, the game was released on May 21, 2021.
On February 24, 2022, Velan Studios announces that cutting ties with Electronic Arts and becomes self-published itself, also on the same day it announced that Knockout City becomes free-to-play which was launched on June 1, 2022 for all platforms and PC.
All servers for Knockout City has been permanently shut down for all consoles and PC storefronts on June 6, 2023. As of 2024, the game has still available and operating via private servers on PC.
