2005–2015[]
Kojima Productions was originally formed by video game designer Hideo Kojima as a subsidiary under Konami on April 1, 2005. The logo used while the studio was a subsidiary is a modified version of the Force Operation X emblem from Kojima's most famous series Metal Gear. The subsidiary was later disbanded by Konami after Kojima left the company.
2014[]
The 7780s Studio name was adopted for the release of the horror video game demonstration P.T., in order to make it appear as an indie production by a small studio. It would be revealed at the end of the game that 7780s Studio isn't real, and the game was actually developed by Kojima Productions as a teaser for their upcoming psychological horror video game Silent Hills.
2015–present[]
After Konami shut down their Kojima Productions subsidiary, the company was reformed by Hideo Kojima as an independent studio on December 16, 2015.
