Founded in 1957, Konzum is the largest supermarket chain in Croatia, with over 700 stores. It is owned by the Croatian retail conglomerate Fortenova Group (the successor to the erstwhile Agrokor group). It also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Montenegro and Serbia, where it is known as Idea. Its sister company in Slovenia is Mercator, which also operates a network of retail stores throughout the ex-Yugoslav countries.
