Lawson, Inc. is a Japanese chain of convenience stores. The chain originated in the United States in 1939, where it was known as Lawson's, and in 1974 its parent company partnered with Daiei to launch the chain in Japan.
1975–present[]
The first Lawson stores in Japan opened in 1975 under the newly-established Daiei Lawson, Inc. (later Lawson Japan, Inc., then Lawson, Inc.). In 1985, all of the locations in the United States were sold to Dairy Mart (later acquired by Circle K in 2002), leaving the Japanese chain as the only remnant of the original American chain.
