On July 1, 2021, Unilever spun off its global tea division, including Lipton, into a standalone entity named ekaterra. The new company has been sold to CVC Capital Partners, expecting to be completed in the second half of 2022.

Meanwhile, Unilever's tea business in Indonesia (including SariWangi), India, Nepal, as well as Pepsi Lipton ready-to-drink tea joint venture with PepsiCo were unaffected by this deal.
