London Gatwick Airport is an airport serving the London region along with five other airports, and the second-busiest, after Heathrow Airport. Located in the large town of Crawley in West Sussex (29.5 miles south of London), it is also the busiest airport in the world to use only one runway, after overtaking Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai in 2019 (BOM was the busiest in 2017 and 2018).
The airport was operated solely by Global Infrastructure Partners until 2018, when the French airport operator Vinci Airports bought a 51% stake in it.
