In 2019, Roblox collaborated with Tencent in hopes to bring Roblox to Mainland China, and creating a joint venture where Roblox owned 51% of LuoBu, and Tencent's affiliate, Songhua, held a 49% investment. LuoBu's Chinese name, 罗布乐思 (Luóbùlèsī), is a transliteration of the name Roblox itself.
LuoBu launched in China on July 13, 2021, on iOS and Android, with a Chinese variant of Roblox Studio releasing at an earlier date. The platform would later be shut down on December 8, 2021, with the game's temporary release in 2021 being labeled a testing period. It's currently unknown if or when LuoBu will return.

In February 2023, the LuoBu logo was updated to include and resemble the latest Roblox logo unveiled in August 2022. The update raised questions as to a possible re-launching of the platform, although there has been no official word on the platform returning in the future, notably following the deletion of all or almost all LuoBu accounts months prior.
