1994-1996[]
M-49 was launched on January 1, 1994 as the predecessor of Ren TV. According to National Media Group, its first logo consists of an italic letter "M" which is beside to the number 49.
On May 29, 1996, the Government of Russia announced that M-49 is going to change its name to Ren TV and also change its logo so it can become Russia's popular youth commercial television network. With that, it is known that the relaunch will occur on January 1, 1997 along with new programmes.
By December 31, 1996, M-49 was closed down and its frequencies were replaced in favour by a new channel called Ren TV which began broadcasting on the following day on January 1, 1997.
