MTN Irancell is one of three telecommunications companies in the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with the state-owned Hamrahe Aval and Rightel. The South African MTN Group has a 49% stake in the joint venture, with the remaining 51% being owned by the state-owned Iran Electronics Industries.

The MTN Group introduced a new corporate font, MTN Brighter Sans, in 2018. This was extended to the Arabic and Persian scripts. The MTN Irancell logos were updated accordingly.
