In 1997, M2 was rebranded to MTV2.

1999–2005[]

In 2001, MTV Networks replaced all its UHF affiliates of The Box Music Network with MTV2, making the latter available on most TV providers.

2005–present[]

2005–2013[]

In 2005, MTV2 rebranded into a youth-oriented music channel for teens and young adults aged 12 to 24 and introduced a new logo nicknamed "The Two-Headed Dog"; the two heads of the dog were made to represent rock and hip-hop, the two main music genres aired on the network. As a result, MTV2 is the only MTV-branded network in the United States to utilize separate branding from the main channel.[1]

2013–present[]

In 2013, the logo was updated with a new font.
