MTV Hits was launched on January 6, 2021 replacing the German feed of MTV Brand New. On February 1, 2021 it also replaced the Benelux feed. It shares the same schedule as the European version, albeit 1 hour ahead.

On September 14, 2021, MTV Hits was rebranded, alongside other MTV channels. The channel did not adopt the new on screen bug until September 15.

In November 2024, it was announced that the channel would cease broadcasting on January 1, 2025.^[1]
