The logo continued in use until the release of Mac OS 8, mainly appearing on the welcome splash that read "Welcome to Macintosh".

Since its rebranding as Mac, the Finder icon, alongside the wordmark, has traditionally been used as the logo.

In June/August 2002, with the launch of the eMac, the Mac text was updated to use the semibold variant of Myriad Pro, replacing Garamond as Apple’s corporate font.
2014–2017
With the launch of OS X Yosemite, the Mac logo and icon were simplified to better represent the operating system.
2017–present
In 2017, the Mac logo was updated to use the semibold variant of Apple’s custom font SF Pro Display.
