Mac's Milk was founded in 1961 by Ken and Carl McGowen, when they opened their first store in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Mac's Milk changed its name to Mac's Convenience Stores on May 7, 1975.

In 1999, Alimentation Couche-Tard acquired the Mac's Convenience Stores brand and replaced the Mac's Convenience Stores mascot MacTavish with their own mascot, Hibou (lit."owl").
In 2001, Alimentation Couche-Tard would convert stores from its Bigfoot Food Stores brand into its Mac's Convenience Stores brand. However, these stores all closed down in 2004 and were instead converted into Circle K stores, which the company had acquired a year prior, in 2003.
When Mac's Convenience Stores shut down in 2017, some stores still used this logo.

Alimentation Couche-Tard would announce in 2015 that they would be converting all 5,906 locations under the Mac's Convenience Stores brand into Circle K locations. the conversion of these would begin in May 2017, with the vast majority of stores being converted that summer. As of February 2025, a small handful of locations still use the outdated Mac's branding.
