Mainstop was a chain made up of several International Stores (a subsidiary of British American Tobacco) superstores in an attempt to modernize and upgrade them. By the chain's closure in 1983, whereupon all stores were sold to other food retailers, the company had operated 22 outlets in England and Wales.
