On November 3, 2017, Major League Gaming retired their fifteen-year-old MLB-esque controller emblem and redesigned the wordmark, making it the primary identifier for the league. The logo change was prompted by the emergence of Esports as a mainstream sport, and that the emblem controller's form and presence of the connector cable was outdated, as wireless controllers had become common since the mid 2000s.
