Makedonia TV was originally founded by Grigoris Arnaoutoglou in Thessaloniki, Greece on 15 February 1990. During its foundation, the station had first commenced its test transmissions, but unfortunately, it did not start its official broadcasts until September 1991. Later, the following year, in September 1991, the channel changed its profile to a private TV channel and had then begun its official broadcasts, although it is headquartered in Thessaloniki, the capital of Macedonia, but as of today, it is now licensed for national coverage, and is available via analogue UHF transmitters throughout Greece, while it is furthermore a part of Digea, a free-to-air digital terrestrial service. It is currently owned by ANT1 Group, who also owns ANT1.
