The logo stopped appearing in the games' logos in 2008 with Mario Kart Wii, but was still on finish line flags until 2011, Mario Kart 7, when it got replaced by the new one. In Mario Kart 8, an updated version of the pre-MKDS logo appears on banners of retro courses from the first four games in the series being slightly restyled and with letters slightly spaced from each other.

Alternative logos

2005-2014 (2005-present [Merchandise])

This logo appeared in the game logos starting with Mario Kart DS until Mario Kart 7. In Mario Kart 7, the logo replaced the former series logo on the finish line flags.
