Along with V and Country Music Channel, Foxtel closed Max on 1 July 2020. Foxtel's in-house music channels were replaced with a suite of ViacomCBS brands; NickMusic, CMT and a expanded presence of MTV. Max's own frequency was taken over by MTV Classic.
On 1 July 2025; five years to the day after shutting it down, Foxtel relaunched Max along side Country Music Channel and five new music channels.
