In late 2008, it was announced that the series will be revived on ABS-CBN when the network's TV production team looked for a church fit to set its religious-themed story, with the series was originally named "Marcelino" before changing to its final title "May Bukas Pa" few months after the show's announcement. Story conference for the revival series were made on January 9, 2009 and taping was then started six days later on January 15, 2009.

The revival series was originally aired on ABS-CBN from February 2, 2009 to February 5, 2010. From March 16 to May 4, 2020, the series returned to air on the same network, temporarily pre-empting FPJ's Ang Probinsyano due to the quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines. The series was also aired on the network's live streaming platform Kapamilya Online Live from August 2 to November 26, 2021.
