Maytag Corporation is an American manufacturer of home appliances, particularly laundry machines such as washers and dryers, founded in 1893 in Newton, Iowa by Frederick Maytag as Maytag Washing Machine Company. Today it is a brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation.

Early years

This was one of the earliest logos used by the company.

The early, heraldic-style logo represented the corporate mission of Maytag: to save consumers labor and time.

The Maytag logo went through a few changes during the few years of World War 2 and the 1950s. It featured the word Maytag written in bold red text with cursive style writing.

This is the familiar classic wavy "M" logo that was adopted by Maytag in the 1960s and was used throughout the 20th century up until May 1, 2008, when it was changed by Whirlpool Corp, who had taken over the Maytag brand two years earlier in 2006.

After Whirlpool Corporation acquired the Maytag brand in 2006, they changed the familiar wavy "M" logo to a more modern looking shield design. The words "Maytag" are enclosed in a gray armored shield to make the brand seem tough and durable; which they are (or used to be) well known for. This logo was used from May 1, 2008 to January 1, 2014.

On January 1, 2014, the Maytag Man was overhauled and brought back into commercials and marketing after having been pushed to the side since the acquisition of the company in 2006. Along with the new and improved Maytag Man came another new logo, which had been widened and stretched out from the previous shield logo, and also features a dark blue outline around the letters; the same color as the Maytag Man's outfit.

This is the logo used by Whirlpool Corporation to sell Maytag products today.
