McDonald's opened in San Juan, Puerto Rico on November 10, 1967, making it the first restaurant in the Caribbean region. However, the branches didn't use the mainland branding due to the locations being part of McDonald's Latin American branch.

In 1984, the logo was given a red background and the text became white.

As part of the first redesign in decades, called 'Forever Young', the logo was redesigned.
