1990–1991[]
On 31 January 1990, McDonald's opened in the defunct Soviet Union in Pushkin Square, Moscow, with a logo similar to the original but with a Soviet flag added below (in a similar vein to the maple leaf symbol used in Canada). On December 26, 1991, the sign was removed during the dissolution of the Soviet Union. However, the Russian McDonald's (later Vkusno – i Tochka) already opened after the USSR's dissolution.
