The new identity was unveiled at midnight during the New Year's countdown as part of the [Hi! 5 special programming marathon https://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/newspapers/digitised/article/straitstimes19931219-1.2.105.18] on 31 December 1993-1 January 1994. This logo and ident package was designed by Novocom, which also made packages for its sister station Channel 12. The look was panned by Straits Times TV critic Cherian George as resembling a foreign satellite channel emulating American networks, in contrast to SBC 5's multicultural approach.
