On October 29, 2021, Facebook, at the time just renamed to Meta, announced that the Oculus Quest series, and the Oculus brand itself, would be renamed to Meta Quest. The name change was said to take effect in 2022; despite this, the Meta Quest 2 branding was already being used in advertisements at Disneyland[1] and on the official Oculus/Meta Quest website.
The rebrand was completed by January 2022, with most social media accounts and the Oculus branding being switched to the Meta Quest name.
2022–present (icon)[]
Despite the Oculus name being phased out, the Oculus icon continued to appear on social media accounts for Meta Quest, promotional material for the Meta Quest line, the Oculus Studios logo prior to 2023, and on Meta Quest controllers, although the icon would slowly get phased out over the next two years. The icon was also removed from the now renamed Oculus applications on mobile and PC. The Oculus icon still appears on some software, games, and apps.
