MISSION SPACE

Mission: SPACE was announced in 2000 by both Walt Disney World and COMPAQ as the first ever Disney thrill ride in deep space. However, several issues (such as COMPAQ being acquired by HP) caused the pavilion's construction to be affected; the ride finally opened in 2003.

Mission Space circular logo

At D23 Expo 2019, Disney revealed that the use of circular Epcot pavilion logos like those used in the former Future World would return as part of the park's massive transformation, with new logos introduced for newer attractions and old logos reintroduced for older pavilions. Later signage changes in World Celebration revealed that Mission: SPACE's pavilion logo is a soaring "star" representing the X-2 Deep Space Shuttle, with three horizontal lines possibly referencing the ride's predecessor Horizons.
