Early in its history, Mobil marketed its oil products using the "Gargoyle" name. Today, Gargoyle is a Mobil product line of lubricants for industrial refrigeration systems.
In 1964, an updated and purely typographical mark for Mobil was introduced. It would gradually replace the previous logo, and by February 1, 1966, it would become the primary logo for the company. The red Pegasus was completely de-emphasized, but remains a secondary symbol for use on equipment, vehicles, and buildings.
