Monolith Soft was founded on October 1, 1999, by Tetsuya Takahashi, who had previously worked at Nihon Falcom and later at Square (now Square Enix ). The company was owned by Namco and later Bandai Namco , before eventually being bought out by Nintendo in 2007.
