MyNetworkTV was launched on September 5, 2006 as a replacement for former affiliates of UPN or The WB (depending on the market) that were not included in their merger to form The CW. On many local channels, the words "Network" or "Network TV" are replaced with the affiliate's channel number and/or callsign.
