It launched on November 25, 1991 at 13:00 (1:00 PM JST) as the world's first high-definition television station, High-definition Test Broadcasting. This logo was used in NHK's high-definition test broadcasting programs.
1994–1995[]
On November 25, 1994, the name of the high-definition test broadcasting was changed to high-definition practical test broadcasting.
1995–2000[]

2000–2011[]
On April 1, 2011, NHK BS Hi was replaced by NHK BS Premium.
