NSU Motorenwerke was founded in 1873. Initially, that Manufacturer produced motorcycles and the first logo was designed on 1892.

Even though NSU was defunct, for a short time, Audi acquired it and named it "Audi NSU". On the same year NSU was totally defunct, so Audi NSU came back to the previous name again, that is still used today.
