The 1998 Winter Olympics (officially the XVIII Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Nagano 1998) and the 1998 Paralympic Winter Games (officially the VII Paralympic Winter Games and commonly known as Paralympics Nagano '98) were two winter multi-sport events that were held from 7 to 22 February and 5 and 14 March respectively in Nagano, Japan.

The logo was introduced in 1993. The logo was a snowflower with petals that are contours of the sportsmen and sportswomen. The logo was designed by Masanori Shirozuka of Landor Associates.

Mascots[]

Also during 1993, the mascots were revealed. The mascots were named The Snowlets and were four snowy owls. Their names were Sukki, Nokki, Lekki and Tsukki each representing fire, water ice and snow as well as the islands of Japan.
