Nation Media Group (abbreviated as NMG) is a Kenyan media company founded by Aga Khan IV in 1959 and is the largest private media house in East and Central Africa with offices in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The company owns the publications The EastAfrican, Daily Nation and the Sunday edition of the same newspaper, the Sunday Nation, Business Daily Africa, Daily Monitor, The Citizen, NMG Investor Briefing, Taifa Leo and Zuqka, television channels NTV, which launched in 1999 as Nation TV, the Ugandan version of NTV which launched in 2006 and Spark TV, the first female TV channel in Uganda, and radio stations Dembe FM 90.4 and 93.3 KFM, a Kampala-based radio station in Uganda, and it is also the shareholders in Ugandan company Monitor Publications Limited, the owner of the Daily Monitor and its weekend editions, the Saturday Monitor and Sunday Monitor which has a 76.5% stake of the company and Tanzanian company Mwananchi Communications, the owner of the newspaper Mwananchi, including the sister publications The Citizen, Sunday Citizen, Mwananchi Jumapili, and Mwanaspoti which has a 60% stake in the company.
