1969-1988 []

In 1969, the vast majority of bus services in England and Wales were nationalised. From 1972, a new corporate identity was introduced to the subsidiaries which were then recently formed by way of merging small operations into larger, regional operations. Buses were painted in Poppy Red, Leaf Green and rarely, blue. Fleetnames were of a standard style comprising of white modified Futura lettering and a white 'double n' logo, the logo was later applied in colour on a white square background. Coach services were branded National Travel, the coaches were painted white with the standard National lettering and 'double n' logo as seen above. The coach services were later rebranded National Express.

Between 1981 and 1987, the companies were split up into smaller operations in preparation for deregulation.
