Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) traces its origins to when the Educational Television and Radio Center (ETRC) was developed in 1952.

In 1959, Educational Television and Radio Center (ETRC) was reincorporated as the National Educational Television and Radio Center. (NETRC)
1962–1970
In 1962, the TV network of National Educational Television and Radio Center became simply referred to as National Educational Television (NET). Short-lived interim network ID, as seen on NET Playhouse.
1968–1970
With the advent of color, NET updated its rooftop signature with tri-colored letters. N was colored into red, E into yellow, while T detaching with a shape of the roof on house with an antenna in blue.
1969–1973
By 1973, NET was defunct, being absorbed by WNET.
