1984–2008
2008–present
In 2008, the NFL modified their 24 year-old logo by reducing the number of stars from 25 to 8; the stars represent the eight divisions, and are separated to the right and left to represent the two conferences. Additionally, the typeface and shield were slightly modernized, and the football on top was changed for the first time to a three-dimensional-like look.
