As the second World War commenced, Nationale Levensverzekering-Bank started struggling financially, with its headquarters being damaged as a result of military attacks. This would lead to a rebrand in the 1940s. It would later purchase Tiel-Utrecht in 1956, which would make it the second-largest insurance company in the Netherlands.
In 1963, Nationale Levensverzekering-Bank merged with De Nederlanden van 1845, forming Nationale-Nederlanden.
