The New Straits Times, abbreviated as the NST, is an English-language daily newspaper in Malaysia and one of the oldest newspapers in Southeast Asia, having been established in 1845 as The Straits Times and re-established in 1974. Published in a tabloid format, it is owned by the New Straits Times Press, a subsidiary of Malaysian media company Media Prima Berhad. Its primary competitor is The Star.
