The Islanders replaced their main logo with a fisherman carrying a hockey stick with "ISLANDERS" in front. It was widely criticized by fans and ultimately fell out of use following the 1996-97 season.

The current logo is similar to their Stanley Cup days, only the hockey stick features four stripes, reminiscent of their four straight titles.
