Following the sale of its television division, the company renamed itself to Wireless Group plc, a name previously used by the owner of talkSPORT before UTV bought the company in 2005.

Its local radio licences (except U105) were bought by Bauer Radio in April 2019; the company is currently in a hold separate state whilst awaiting Competition Commission clearance. The rest of the group continues to own & operate the National, U105 & the Scottish Sun DAB services.

In September 2022, Wireless was folded into News UK. The Wireless brand remained in use for the Irish division until 2025.
