Nick Jr. India was a block on Nickelodeon before Viacom18 announced that they'll launch Nick Jr. as a channel in 2011. The channel ended up being launched on 21 November 2012. [1][2] For its first 5 years, it time-shared with an Indian feed of TeenNick. However, the block was discontinued on 1 February 2017, the same day that ZeeQ shut down, and therefore Nick Jr. became a 24/7 channel. [3]

On April 15, 2024, the channel Nick Jr., along with its sister channels Nick and Nick HD+, started to use the Splat rebrand being used internationally. Unlike most Nickelodeon feeds adopting the Nickelodeon logo, the channel retained its on-air name as Nick. All 3 Nick Channels rebranded with the exception of Nickelodeon Sonic.
