On September 30, 2009 Nickelodeon was taken off the air, due to declining viewership. However, after the channel's closure, some programs were moved to MTV Japan, DTH satellite channels and terrestrial television networks. On September 1, 2010 Nickelodeon's programs were then broadcast on Animax in Japan under a television block titled "NickTime".

A few other Nick shows have migrated to other channels, such as Amazon.co.jp (the most usual site), NHK, Disney XD, and TV Tokyo.
