On 1 April 2021, Northamptonshire County Council was abolished and replaced with the unitary authorities of North Northamptonshire (consisting of the old non-metropolitan districts of Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering, and Wellingborough), and West Northamptonshire (consisting of the old non-metropolitan districts of Daventry, Northampton, and South Northamptonshire).
