OTP Bank was founded on December 20, 1995 as RoBank.

2005–2007[]
On July 12, 2005, OTP Group had purchased the entirety of RoBank. The brand was renamed to OTP Bank Romania on July 25 of that year.
2007–2025[]
In June 2007, OTP Bank and its international branches changed their logos.
On February 9, 2024, it was announced that OTP Bank would be purchased by Banca Transilvania with the transaction being completed on July 30 of that year. It was closed on February 28, 2025.
