Founded in 1997, PVR Cinemas is the largest movie theatre chain in India, with over 800 screens. It has acquired other cineplex chains in its history, particularly SPI Cinemas in Southern India.
In 2022, it announced plans to merge with its largest competitor INOX Leisure.
