Gill left the firm in 1965 and architect Theo Crosby would join as principal in the same year.

The Pentagram partnership began with five members in 1972: Crosby, Fletcher, Forbes, designer Mervyn Kurlansky, and industrial designer Kenneth Grange. The firm would establish its New York office around 1979.
