Philco-Ford[]

The Philco Corporation was bought by the Ford Motor Company in 1961. In 1966, the branding was changed to "Philco-Ford".
Philco (second era)[]

Ford sold Philco to GTE in 1974. The company was acquired from GTE by Philips in 1981 so that Philips could gain the rights to use its trademark in the United States. Eventually, the Philco brand name was discontinued. The Philco name is presently owned by Philips in the United States, and Electrolux elsewhere.
In 2009, Philips licensed the Philco brand and logo to Funai for used only on digital TV converter box being sold in the US.

Philco Brazil merged with Hitachi Brazil. The dual brand name continued until Itautec acquire both companies.
